How the GEO Score works
The GEO Score is a single number that represents how well your brand appears, is described, and is recommended across all the AI answer engines your buyers use. Instead of tracking six separate scores independently, Venture GEO weights each dimension by its importance to the buyer's decision and combines them into one composite score.
The weighting reflects what moves buyers toward or away from your brand when an AI assistant answers their question. Not all dimensions matter equally: whether you appear in the answer at all (Visibility) has more influence than the strength of the sources cited (Authority). Venture GEO's weights are: Visibility 30%, Prominence 15%, Recommendation 15%, Accuracy 15%, Authority 15%, and Conversion 10%.
The GEO Score is most useful when you look at it alongside the six sub-scores. Your overall number tells you your competitive position; the sub-scores tell you where to focus first to move the needle.
- Visibility (30%) — the foundation; your score is zero if the engine never names you
- Prominence (15%) — how high in the answer you appear and how much the engine emphasizes you
- Recommendation (15%) — active endorsement, not neutral mention
- Accuracy (15%) — whether the engine states your facts correctly
- Authority (15%) — the quality and trust level of sources the engine cites about you
- Conversion (10%) — whether the answer gives a buyer a reason and path to choose you
The six dimensions behind your GEO Score
| Dimension | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Visibility | 30% | Whether your brand appears in the answer at all across the engines audited |
| Prominence | 15% | How prominently — named first versus buried; emphasized versus mentioned in passing |
| Recommendation | 15% | Whether the engine actively recommends you or merely lists you among options |
| Accuracy | 15% | Whether what the engine says about your brand is factually correct |
| Authority | 15% | The strength and trustworthiness of the sources cited when the engine names you |
| Conversion | 10% | Whether the answer includes a reason to choose you and a clear path to do so |
How the six dimensions combine into your GEO Score
Reading and acting on your GEO Score
Your GEO Score is a snapshot of today — it tells you how visible and recommended you are right now across AI answer engines your buyers use. As with any single metric, it is most valuable when paired with the breakdown: a strong overall score might hide a weakness in Accuracy (the engine gets something wrong), and a modest overall score might show that one dimension is dragging the others down.
Track which dimension is your largest opportunity. If your Prominence score is weak but Visibility is strong, the engines name you but don't emphasize you — that's a different fix than if Visibility itself is low. Venture GEO's action plan prioritizes the moves that will lift your GEO Score the most, typically by addressing the lowest-scoring dimension first or the one with the highest impact on buyer perception.
Re-audits measure whether the changes work. After you act on the prioritized roadmap, Venture GEO re-runs your buyer's questions across the same engines and recalculates your GEO Score and sub-scores to show the movement — so you can see the impact of your effort, not guess at it.
